Dr. Rehak knows that a picture is worth a thousand words - especially in dentistry! Dr. Rehak uses small cameras right inside your mouth to take highly magnified digital photos of your teeth. These photos can be displayed on a computer screen for both patient and doctor, and are invaluable in diagnosing and recording dental problems. Intra-oral photos also enables patients to view what the dentist sees when their teeth are being evaluated by the dentist.
Digital radiography is the latest way to take and evaluate x-rays. With digital x-rays, less radiation is needed to produce high-quality images. These images can then be evaluated by Dr. Rehak on a large flat-screen monitor. This allows for easier detection of any problems. With such a large image, it is also easier for patients to see and understand what is happening with their teeth.
Laser Cavity Detector - Diagnodent
The Diagnodent is an FDA-approved diagnostic laser that is used primarily to locate decay below the chewing surfaces of back teeth in deep grooves and pits. "The Diagnodent's laser will detect decay and changes in tooth structure and give a digital readout to guide the dentist to take the appropriate action: no treatment needed, restorative filling needed without need for anesthetic, or restorative filling needed with anesthetic." The Diagnodent instantly and accurately finds cavities in the areas where X-rays rarely see them, and the routine exam (the dental pick) misses 76% of the time. Early diagnosis is the key to affordable, fast, and comfortable repair.
Dr. Rehak has been providing orthodontic treatment for his patients since 1980. He got started in orthodontics because he had several patients with headache and TMJ, temporomandibular joint, dysfunction. He could usually stop the pain for his patients with splints to treat the joints but no one wanted to wear a splint 24/7. To get his patients off of the splints he had to learn how to get the teeth into good position to work in harmony with his patients' joints and muscles.
Now Dr. Rehak provides TMJ treatment frequently using the NTI appliance and orthodontic treatment using both braces and Invisalign. He uses Bioefficient archwires when using braces. These wires are very kind to the teeth and provide more rapid treatment then either nitanol or stainless steel type archwires. He uses Invisalign when patients prefer "invisible" treatment.
